Papa Sand Crane

I took this picture today when I looked out at my front yard and saw our family of three sand cranes grazing through our freshly cut grass.

I loved this picture the most because the males of this species are very protective of their families. When papa saw me coming, he started putting himself between me and the mama and baby.

I know it's not a very well taken photo, but I wanted to share it anyways.
